The Stranglers – Live 1978 in San Francisco play up in May

Music Video Distributors and Target Video will release The Stranglers – Live 1978 in San Francisco on DVD this summer.

The Stranglers were among the predecessors of Punk who began by playing the raucous UK pub band scene. When the notion of punk manifested, The Stranglers were a perfect fit for the movement. Founded in Chiddingfold, England in 1974 by Hugh Cornwell (guits/vox), Jean-Jacques Burnell (bass/vox), Dave Greenfield (keys) and Jet Black (drums), The Stranglers maintained an unmistakable stage presence by always dressing in black and producing a hard, dark, and intriguingly moody sound.

This is the classic 1978 line-up of the UK’s best art punks captured live in San Francisco on their first US tour. Culling material from their first two albums, this in demand program is now available on DVD. 30 minutes of challenging, high-energy chaos from one of the best of the first wave of British punk rock, including tracks such as “Get A Grip On Yourself,” “Burning Up Time,” “Daganham Dave,” “Bring on the Nubiles,” “Dead Ringer,” “London Lady,” and “Hanging Around”.

The DVD will also contain a bonus “Target Video Reel” featuring a healthy sampling from the Target Video archives when it is being released with 5.1 channel audio on May 31 for a low $14.95.
