The Boogeyman will scare up DVD in May

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has just announced a DVD version of the Sam Raimi-produced horror chiller Boogeyman that will hit retail stores in May.

Every culture has one – the horrible monster fueling young children’s nightmares. But for Tim, the Boogeyman still lives in his memories as a creature that devoured his father 16 years earlier. Is the Boogeyman real? Or did Tim make him up to explain why his father abandoned his family? The answer lies hidden behind every dark corner and half-opened closet of his childhood home – a place he must return to and face the chilling unanswered question…does the Boogeyman really exist?

Sony Picture Home Entertainment’s release of the film will feature an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the movie with 5.1 channel Dolby Digital sound tracks. As bonus material the release will contain an Alternate Ending as well as a selection of Deleted Scenes. Further included are Animatics and a making of Promo Featurette as well as a series of Visual Effects Progressions giving viewers a look at the creation of the film’s scary special effects.

“Boogeyman” will be in stores on May 31 and carry a suggested retail price of $28.95. A Universal Media Disc (UMD) for playback in Sony’s PSP handheld will also be released on the same day.
