Back for a bite, Universal revisits Jaws

A new Special Edition of Steven Spielberg’s Jaws is on the way for release in June. Called the “30th Anniversay Edition” – can you believe it’s been that long already? – will contain a number of new bonus features that were not part of the previous Collector’s Edition DVD of the movie.

While it still features the crappy new cover art that disgraced the previous release, showing a Mako shark as opposed to a Great White, the 2-disc edition will contain a 5.1 Dolby Digital and a DTS audio track as well as the original theatrical mono track. Also included is a never-before-available interview with Steven Spielberg. Finally fans will also be treated to the original 2-hour Making-Of Documentary by Laurent Bouzereau. Fans may remember that the previous release featured an edited down version of the documentary, much to the dismay of the film’s many fans. Other extras will be included but have not yet been announced. As an additional incentive, the DVD will also contain a commemorative photo journal booklet filled with color photos.

The “Jaws: 30th Anniversay Edition” will be in stores on June 14 and carry a suggested retail price of $22.98.
