Ten Comedies from Warner
Warner Home Entertainmenthas finally gotten around to releasing a batch of catalog comedies for the first time on DVD. Young Einstein, Richie Rich, Chain of Fools, Fandango, Other People’s Money, Arthur 2: On the Rocks, Ice Pirates, Disorderlies, Oh God! Book II and Oh God! You Devil.
Young Einstein – Popular Australian comedian Yahoo Serious made his movie debut in this whacky comedy as Albert Einstein, portrayed in the movie as the son of a Tasmanian apple farmer. The young Albert discovers the secret of splitting the beer atom to put the bubbles back and when he travels to Sydney to patent his invention, he meets French scientist Marie Curie, as well as several unscrupulous types trying to take advantage of the naïve genius and his invention.
Richie Rich – The richest kid in the world, Richie Rich, has everything he wants, except companionship. When a plot to kill the Rich family is devised by Rich Industries’ top executive, Laurence Van Dough, Richie must take over control of the company while searching for his lost parents with the help of some new friends.
Chain of Fools –Steve Zahn stars as a hapless barber whose life takes a turn for the worse when he ends up in possession of a stolen treasure of ancient coins and then falls love with the detective investigating the crime. This romantic comedy features an all-star cast including Salma Hayek, Jeff Goldblum, Elijah Wood, David Hyde Pierce and Lara Flynn Boyle.
Fandango – An early Kevin Costner starrer, with Judd Nelson as co-star, this comedy is about five buddies who embark on a final road trip across the Mexican border before facing up to uncertain futures, in Vietnam and otherwise.
Arthur 2: On the Rocks – In this sequel to the 1981 hit movie starring Dudley Moore, Arthur manages to lose his entire $750 million fortune. Will the former millionaire playboy be able to survive as a broke, unemployable alcoholic?
Disorderlies – A compulsive gambler must pay his debts to a sinister gangster by killing his uncle who is under the care of three bumbling orderlies – the rap trio “The Fat Boys.”
Ice Pirates – In this comedy, starring Angelica Huston and Robert Urich, two space pirates are captured, sold to a princess, and recruited to help her find her father who disappeared when he found information dangerous to the rulers.
Oh God! You Devil! – George Burns is God and Satan in this comedy about a young rock star ready to sell his soul to Satan, and Satan is all too happy to oblige.
Oh God! Book II – God (again in the form of George Burns) appears before an 11-year-old girl to ask for her help in spreading his word and influence over the world.
Other People’s Money – Danny DeVito and Gregory Peck star in this comedy about a Wall Street corporate raider and his attempt to acquire an 81-year-old New England wire and cable company.
On February 15th, all ten DVDs will be available for $14.95 each.
