Home Vision opens The Yakuka Papers

The late Kinji Fukasaku receives a Home Vision Entertainment special edition DVD Boxed Set of his masterwork The Yazuka Papers (Battles Without Honor and Humanity).

Premiering a year after The Godfather, The Yazuka Papers also broke box-office records and spawned sequels, but took a ruthlessly de-romanticized view of the underworld. Based on an actual gang boss’ memoirs, this spectacular five film series delves into a gritty, brutal, three-decade struggle for power in a nihilistic epic unlike any other.

The set includes William Friedkin in the featurette Friedkin on Fukasaku, a video essay, interviews, archival footage, a family tree and a booklet.

The set will have a $99.95 suggested retail price when it arrives on December 14th.
