Watermelon Man makes its way to DVD

Now that Melvin Van Peebles has been reaffirmed as a badass, his films are coming back into vogue after decades of lurking in the studio vaults. Watermelon Man makes its digital debut in September from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

Jeff Gerber seems to have it all: a successful career, a nice suburban home, a
progressive-thinking wife and two cute children. But he’s also a loud-mouthed racist who wakes up one morning to discover he’s turned into a black man. The doctor’s have no explanation and no cure for his sudden change. Suddenly, Gerber is a white bigot in black skin who has to deal with a shocked family, intolerant neighbors, cold shoulders at the office and a back seat on the bus!

The DVD will be presented in anamorphic widescreen and contains a new introduction by Melvin Van Peebles. Arriving on September 14th, the DVD will be priced at $24.95.
