Columbia TriStar will give wide release to the story of Melvin Van Peebles in Baadasssss! this fall.

The true story of black filmmaking legend Melvin Van Peebles energizes with heart, humor and raw attitude under the talents of his son (director and star Mario Van Peebles) on a ride that details the underdog effort to make an empowering black film against all odds. An inspiring and informative crowd pleaser!

The DVD will contain the film in Dolby Digital 5.1 and anamorphic widescreen. Three featurettes American Cinematheque Q&A with Melvin Van Peebles, The Premiere and The Making of Baadasssss! are included along with an audio commentary with Mario and Melvin Van Peebles.

The DVD hits the mean streets on September 14th with a suggested retail price of $24.96.
