20 years of Purple Rain

The twentieth anniversary of the musical Purple Rain is already upon us. And although its original ad campaign promise that it would make us forget Michael Jackson never came to be, it made us stand up and notice Prince. Now Warner Home Entertainment is preparing a special edition DVD for the event as well as a DVD for the far less known sequel Graffiti Bridge.

Revolutionary rock legend Prince stars as The Kid, an ambitious young musician who struggles to secure his success in the music industry while overcoming the personal strife of losing his love Apollonia to rival singer Morris.

The DVD will contain an anamorphic widescreen transfer with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound plus filmmaker commentary, three new featurettes on the making-of the film and its impact and eight Prince music videos.

Arriving on August 24th the DVD will be priced at $26.99, Graffiti Bridge will retail for $19.97.
