Warner finally gives Shawshank Redemption a special edition

The Shawshank Redemption was one of the most wanted DVDs for years, and its eventual release – while not defective in any manner – left many fans wanting. Finally, Warner Home Video will release the film as both a two-disc and three-disc special edition in October.

A prominent banker unjustly convicted of murder spends many years in the Shawshank prison. He is befriended by a convict who knows the ropes and helps him to cope with the frightning realities of prison life.

The two-disc set will contain the film in anamorphic widescreen with audio in Dolby Digital 5.1 as well as an audio commentary with director Frank Darabont, two documentaries an episode of The Charlie Rose Show, still galleries, a spoof, theatrical trailers and DVD-ROM content.. The three-disc version will also include the film’s original soundtrack CD and a collectable booklet.

Both versions will arrive on October 5th amd will be priced $26.95 and $44.95.
