The Iron Giant gets a special edition

The Iron Gian finally gets a special edition treatment from Warner Home Video.

The Iron Giant follows the incredible adventures of young Hogarth Hughes who late one night discovers and befriends an enormous robot fallen from the stars. But Hogarth now has a very big problem: how do you keep a 50-foot-tall, steel-eating giant a secret – especially when there’s a nosy government agent asking questions in town and the combined land, sea and air power of the U.S. military mobilizing to demolish the “alien invader?” With a little bit of help from his junkyard dealer buddy Dean and his skeptical mother Annie, Hogarth is about to embark on the adventure of a lifetime and, along the way, learn a very valuable lesson about trust and friendship.

A new Dolby Digital 5.1 mix and anamorphic widescreen transfer grace the film along with eight deleted scenes with introductions by Brad Bird, including an alternate opening sequence, 13 mini documentaries revealing the origin and the in-depth development process of The Iron Giant, interviews with creative consultant Teddy Newton on the storyboard sequence development process, the featurette “The Voice Of The Giant” and easter eggs.

The DVD arrives on September 7th with a $19.96 suggested retail price.
