Warner rains Pennies from Heaven

Warner Home Entertainment is preparing the 1978 mini-series Pennies from Heaven for a DVD release this spring.

Set during The Great Depression of the 1930s, the film stars Martin as a sheet-music salesman who passionately believes in the sunny lyrics of the songs he sells despite the dreary reality of his existence. When he falls in love with another woman, he uses the cheery tunes to imagine a better life for himself.

Presented in Dolby Digital 5.1 and anamorphic widescreen, highlights of the extra content include commentary by film critic Peter Rainer and a special cast and crew reunion featurette with Steve Martin, executive producer Rick McCallum and costume designer Bob Mackie.

The three disc set will arrive on July 27th with a $19.95 suggested retail price.
