The Waltons come down from the Mountain

The drama which originated the celebrated phrase “Good Night John-Boy!” is making its debut on DVD in May with The Waltons: The Complete First Season from Warner Home Video.

The Waltons, which made its network television premiere on September 14, 1972, on CBS, follows one family’s life as they run its lumber mill during the Great Depression in rural Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Created and narrated by author Earl Hamner, Jr., the program is a reflection of Hamner’s own upbringing during the same era, with his experiences re-told to the viewer through the eyes of aspiring writer John Boy Walton. The close-knit family together faces the challenges of 1930s United States while living on Waltons Mountain.

All 24 episodes from the first season, but no supplements seem to be present. The set will be available on May 11th.
