Columbia TriStar has prepared The Statement

Although its release was limited primarily to arthouse theaters, the drama The Statement was well receive by audiences, and now will get a chance on DVD from Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment.

Inspired by actual events, The Statement is the story of Pierre Brossard who, as a young man during World War II, committed a heinous crime. Over the course of more than forty years, Brossard has never been brought to trial and has lived a peaceful and anonymous life sheltered by right-wing elements of the French government and the Catholic Church. A new investigation into his crimes is launched by an ambitious judge and a scrupulous army officer. Even though Brossard manages to outwit the state investigation, he is simultaneously tracked by mysterious hit men. With two hunters on his heels, this wily old fox must try to stay alive and find out who is after him.

Anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 are the mix. The DVD also contains a director’s commentary, deleted scenes, conversations with Norman Jewison and Michael Caine and a featurette.

Arriving on April 27th, the disc will carry a suggested retail price of $26.96.
