It is truly a sad way to begin the new year, and I am truly at a loss for words. Hong Kong superstar Anita Mui died of cancer earlier this week at the age of 40 in her homeland Hong Kong. Long-time friend Jackie Chan was at her side when the star passed away.

One of the most illustrious singers and actresses of Hong Kong, Anita Mui was an unparalleled entertainer who was beloved and adored by the entire Asian community, and who also made her mark in the US at the side of Jackie Chan in films such as “Rumble In The Bronx.” But also films such as “Heroic Trio,” “Drunken Master II,” “Saviour of the Soul” and countless other have become favorite films of Hong Kong movie fans around the globe.

This is a heartbreaking moment for all fans of Mui and her work and she will be sorely missed by all of us.
