New television from Columbia TriStar

Three new television series are coming out of the archives to join us on DVD; the short-lived but popular animated series Dilbert and The Critic as well as the long running hit Barney Miller are on the way.

Running only two seasons for a total of 23 episodes on ABC and then Fox, The Critic lampooned both the television and film industries in the form of film critic Jay Sherman – played by Jon Lovitz. His constant diatribe against the films he critiqued usually led to dire consequences for himself down the road.

Unfortunately, the disc contains no extra features at all, but contains each episode in its original fullscreen aspect ratio and in stereo.

With his signature turned-up tie, round glasses and buzz cut, Dilbert follows the “every man” as he copes with daily life at The Company. Dilbert wades through life his roommate Dogbert, who views the entire world as existing for his personal entertainment. Joining Dilbert in the office are his fellow engineers: the no-nonsense, caffeinated Alice and selfish, slothful Wally.

The four disc set contains all 30 episodes from the series and some extras as well including the “Making Dilbert Work” featurette, four clip compilations hosted by creator, Scott Adams, – Dogbert Highlights,
The Office Politics Handbook and The Watercooler – Dilbert Office Humor.

Finally Barney Miller the mild-mannered captain of the 12th precinct and compassionate family man, tactfully commands his crew of inner-city detectives and somehow manages to maintain order over this diverse group.

The 1975 season of the show arrives on DVD with no features.

Barney Miller will arrive on January 20th with a suggested retail price of $29.95. Dilbert and The Critic will arrive one week later with a suggested retail price of $49.95 each.
