Loony Tunes come to DVD in a big way

Warner Brothers Home Entertainment will finally begin releasing Bugs, Daffy and the rest in October. The new The Loony Tunes Golden Collection will not only contain 56 animated shorts , but a wealth of extras and a substantial digital restoration as well.

Disc one will feature 14 Bugs shorts with a special introduction from Chuck Jones and audio commentaries on several shorts, featurettes on Bugs Bunny, Yosemite Sam and Elmer Fudd, part one of the John Canemaker documentary The Boys from Termite Terrace, animated sequences from My Dream is Yours and Two Guys From Texas, segments from The Bugs Bunny Show, the 1989 short Fifty Years of Bugs Bunny in 3 1/2 Minutes, the 1991 short Blooper Bunny, a photo gallery, and 1950’s trailers.

Disc two will feature fourteen more shorts with an emphasis on Porky Pig and Daffy Duck with selected audio commentaries, alternate music tracks for some shorts, featurettes on Marvin the Martian, Porky Pig and Daffy Duck, the second part of the Termite Terrace documentary and another photo gallery.

Disc three contains 14 more shorts with selected audio commentaries and alternate music tracks, featurettes on Road Runner, Mel Blank and Carl Stalling, the featurette Toonheads: The Lost Cartoons, original storyboards, and a photo gallery.

Finally, disc four contains the next fourteen shorts with selected audio commentaries and alternate music tracks, featurettes on Speedy Gonzales, Friz Freleng – Tweety & Sylvester and Robert McKimson – Foghorn Leghorn, a 50 minute documentary “Irreverent Imagination: The Golden Age Of Looney Tunes” narrated by <>Stan Freberg, the pilot for Bosko the Talk-ink Kid, pencil tests and more photo galleries.

The set will arrive on October 28th and carry a suggested retail price of $64.98. For those on a smaller budget, the third and forth discs will be available in a smaller package for a smaller S.R.P. That’s All Folks.
