El Mariachi and Desperado

In hopes to stir up excitement for the upcoming film Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will be remastering the first two films of the series and releasing them as special editions.

First is El Mariachi which is presented in widescreen with audio in its original Spanish Dolby Surround. Extras include an audio commentary with director Robert Rodriguez, the short film Bedhead, the featurette “10-Minute Film School” and a sneak peek into Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

Desperado will be featured in anamorphic widescreen and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. The disc will also include a commentary, the featurette “10 More Minutes: Anatomy of a Shootout”, filmographies, trailers, the same sneak peek and an awkwardly added trail video editing software package for PC computers.

Both discs will be available for $19.95 each or $27.95 for the two packaged together. All arrive on August 26th.
