Lion’s Gate releases House of 1,000 Corpses

Lion’s Gate seems to have found the perfect recipe for a cult film. Start with an attention getting bizarre director like rocker Rob Zombie and then leave the film unreleased for several years to build up curious speculation. The process worked with the horror film finally released theatrically earlier this year. Now House of 1, 000 Corpses is coming to DVD.

Two young couples take a misguided tour onto the back roads of America in search of oddities and local legends. Their search leads them to Captain Spaulding’s rest stop where they learn the legend of Dr. Satan. Eager to learn more about the legend, they venture out into the darkness. When a flat tire strands them, they encounter a bizarre family of demented souls. Murder, cannibalism and satanic rituals are just a few of the 1000+ horrors that ensue.

The special features on the upcoming disc include a running audio commentary with director Rob Zombie, several trailers, including the Rob Zombie’s original trailer, screen tests, a still gallery, an isolated score and new featurettes created for the DVD.

If you’re looking for one of the gorier films of recent years on DVD, just wait until August 12th when the corpses arrive with a suggested retail price of $26.99.
