Fargo gets a long overdue special edition

It may have taken seven years, but Fargo is finally getting a decent video release from MGM Home Entertainment. A special edition is due this September.

A man deeply in debt hires two inept crooks to kidnap his wife and split the ransom money. The deal goes bad when the crooks kill a highway patrolman and 2 hapless bystanders, and the murders fall under the jurisdiction of a pregnant but persistent Minnesota police chief.

An anamorphic widescreen transfer and Dolby Digital 5.1 sound are included. New extras include an audio commentary with director of photography Roger Deakins, a subtitle track of trivia, a documentary entitled “Minnesota Nice”, a still gallery, theatrical trailers and several hidden features.

With a suggested retail price of $24.95, the Coen Brothers classic comes on September 30th.
