Anchor Bay enters the Day of the Dead

Anchor Bay Home Entertainment is about to complete the trilogy of George Romero’s zombie series with a special edition DVD release of Day of the Dead.

A group of scientists and military men are among the few survivors of the zombie attacks and they turn to experiments to figure out why the dead are returning and how to defeat them, but when the scientists start using soldiers for their unholy experiments, the remaining living turn on each other.

An anamorphic widescreen transfer and newly mixed audio in Dolby Digital Surround EX and DTS ES 6.1 will enhance the disc. Two audio commentaries are included, the first with George Romero, Tom Savini, Lori Cardille and production designer Cletus Anderson, the second with filmmaker Roger Avary. A second disc includes a brand-new documentary featuring interviews with Romeo, Cardille, Savini and Anderson, previously unreleased footage, additional promo footage, an audio interview with actor Richard Liberty, still galleries, the original screenplay, production notes and theatrical trailers.

The two disc set will arrive this summer with a suggested retail price of $29.98.
