Shortly after the recent announcement of a special two-disc edition of The Matrix, Warner Brothers Home Entertainment announced the title would not be released after all. Now producer Joel Silver has shed some light on the subject.

Of the supplemental material on the set, very little was new material relating to the film. The contents of the original disc and the Matrix Revisited disc were combined into one set. The new materials almost exclusively dealt with the upcoming sequels. Silver reviewed the material and felt far too much spoiler information was on these discs, and has postponed the releases until the sequels are released. Word is that Silver may also spend the time working on an improved transfer for the film, which would make the set even better.

The release of the upcoming Animatrix DVD is unaffected. Now we just have to wait anxiously for the new films.
