James Bond will return in Die Another Day

James Bond returns to DVD in the twentieth Bond film Die Another Day. And it’s a DVD worthy of Bond himself in terms of technical wizardry.

James Bond’s newest mission begins with a spectacular high-speed hovercraft chase through a minefield in the demilitarized zone separating North and South Korea – an the action doesn’t let up. From Hong Kong to Cuba to London, Bond circles the world in his quest to unmask a traitor and prevent a war of catastrophic proportions. On his way he crosses paths with Jinx and Miranda Frons, who will play vital roles in his latest adventure. Hot on the trail of deadly megalomaniac Gustov Graves and his ruthless right-hand man Zao, Bond travels to Iceland into the villain’s lair: a palace built entirely of ice. There he experiences firsthand the power of a new hi-tech weapon. Ultimately it all leads to an explosive confrontation – and an unforgettable conclusion – back in Korea where it all started.

Dolby Digital 5.1 EX and DTS 6.1 ES are available on both the anamorphic widescreen and fullscreen versions of the disc. French and Spanish Dolby Surround 2.0 tracks are also available as are two “Audio Intelligence” audio commentaries, the first with director Lee Tamahori and producer Michael G. Wilson, the second with Pierce Brosnan and Rosalind Pike. Also available as a viewing option is the “M16 DataStream” branching version with a text commentary and video vignettes. The second disc contains the bulk of the supplements including the “Inside Die Another Day” documentary, “Scene Evolutions” storyboard-to-final shot comparisons, “Inter-Action Sequences” multi-angle explorations of the stunts, “Digital Grading” before-and-after comparisons, the featurettes “Title Design” and “Equipment Briefing”, an extensive Image Gallery and the section entitled “Ministry of Propaganda” which features the Madonna music video, a making-of the music video, trailers and TV spots and a “Nightfire” video game making-of. DVD-ROM features are also onboard.

All that is coming on June 3rd with a suggested retail price of $29.95. For the obsessive collector types, the packaging design of the previous Bond titles has been partially abandoned to fit the standard MGM packaging design.
