Get ready to attend a Big Shot’s Funeral

It is rare that a film is created domestically for a Chinese release, but Big Shot’s Funeral has become the highest grossing film in China to do so. Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment is bringing the film back to the U.S for a DVD release in April.

Dylon Tyler, who plagued by creative doubt, is tossed off his latest epic picture in China’s fantastic Forbidden City by his studio boss. Tyler’s depression is relived only by an unlikely friendship with a down-on-his-luck Chinese cameraman, YoYo. Knowing he’s not well, Tyler asks his friend to plan a wacky “comedy funeral” for him – where people leave feeling happy, as they do at Chinese funerals of the elderly. When Tyler eventually falls into a coma, YoYo begins the task of granting Tyler’s last wish. However, when the costs of the spectacular event spin wildly out of control, can YoYo hold it all together by selling prime ad space at this unique funeral to be televised around the world? And more importantly, can he convince Tyler’s lovely assistant Lucy that he isn’t just selling Tyler out to the highest bidder?

The new DVD will feature the film in anamorphic widescreen and English and Mandarin Dolby Digital 5.1 sound. Sadly, a theatrical trailer is the only feature of this disc.

Arriving on April 15th, the DVD will have a suggested retail price of $29.95.
