2003 Game Developers Conference Pre-Registration Numbers Surpass Previous Year’s

The Game Developers Conference announced today that
early registration figures have broken all previous records. With more
developers planning to attend this year’s GDC, the Gama Network anticipates
a successful and valuable experience for everyone involved. GDC is slated
to take place March 4 – 8, 2003 in San Jose, Calif.

The interactive entertainment industry enjoyed unprecedented sales in 2002,
in excess of 10 billion dollars, but it was not immune to the economic
challenges impacting the world. The Gama Network attributes GDC’s success
in these turbulent times to the continued importance and relevance of the
conference.

“By continuing to address issues and challenges faced by the development
community, the GDC evolves as the industry matures,” Alan Yu, director,
GDC, said. “Dedicated conferences and events like GDC Mobile, the IGDA
Academic Summit and the Independent Games Festival provide real value to
studio heads, rank and file developers and publishers; nowhere else in
the world will you find this much talent, energy and expertise dedicated
to making better games.”

The GDC offers more than 300 sessions, which provide essential information,
diverse perspectives and inspiration to all game developers. The conference
provides an independent forum for developers from around the world to explore
possibilities for the next generation of games.
