Attack of the 80’s Cartoons
The recent revival of eighties cartoons continues with new DVDs from some of the heroes of days gone by. G.I. Joe and Care Bears make their debut.
From Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment comes The Care Bears Movie II: A New Generation. The full-length feature film goes back in time to introduce the Care Bear Cubs and Care Cousin Cubs and shows how they grew up to become the champions of caring. Set in a peaceful summer camp, evil Dark Heart makes a bargain with an unhappy little girl to trap the Care Bears and destroy goodness. But when she learns the cost of her decision, she realizes that she must race to save them before it’s too late with the help of True Heart Bear and his faithful friend Noble Heart Horse.
The disc comes in fullscreen and contains no features. The disc will arrive on March 6th and will carry a suggested retail price of $14.95.
The best week in television in the eighties was the week of a five part G.I. Joe miniseries. Rhino Home Entertainment is preparing the first two such series A Real American Hero and The Revenge of Cobra for release. Both series will be available together in a box set coming on February 11th with no extra features. For those willing to wait until May 13th the set will be re-released with extra features and an exclusive Snake Eyes action figure.
