More info on Signs

The final specs have come in on the latest thriller from M. Night Shyamalan. The alien film Signs will have many fine features indeed.

Everything that farmer Graham Hess assumed about the world is changed when he discovers a message – an intricate pattern of circles and lines – carved into his crops. As he investigates the unfolding mystery, what he finds will forever alter the lives of his brother and children.

The DVD will in fact be part of the Vista Series line from Buena Vista Home Entertainment. The film will be presented in anamorphic widescreen with audio in Dolby Digital 5.1. The rest of the set will be divided into several sections. Looking for Signs will feature a DVD diary about the writing of the script. Making Signs will contain a commentary by M. Night Shyamalan as he and his team take us through the filming of Signs, explaining not only how the film was made but also providing comments on the significance of some key sequences. Building Signs explains the storyboard process, an essential preliminary visualization of the film. The Effects of Signs covers the physical and visual effects employed in Signs, and a tour of Industrial Light and Magic displays the different steps involved in the process of film effects, including the animatronics work realized on the set. In Signs: The Music, celebrated composer James Newton Howard discusses his work on the music of Signs. Full Circle features Shyamalan explaining the steps taken to ensure that signs reaches its audience. Deleted scenes, multi-angle reels and M. Night’s first alien movie filmed during his childhood are all included.

A fairly impressive set, the Vista Series DVD arrives on January 7th.
