Charlie Chaplin gets a facelift.

No one can fault Image Entertainment for their excellent releases of the films of Charlie Chaplin. The video restorations were breathtaking and the extras extraordinary, but now Warner Brothers Home Entertainment and the French production company MK2 have plans to raise the bar even higher with two disc releases of many of Chaplin’s greatest films.

Three classics City Lights, The Great Dictator and The Circus will arrive in June 2003. Following releases will include The Chaplin Revue, A Day’s Pleasure, A Dog’s Life, The Gold Rush, The Idle Class, The Kid, A King In New York, Limelight, Modern Times, Monsieur Verdoux, Pay Day, The Pilgrim, Shoulder Arms, Sunnyside and A Woman of Paris.

Following in the footsteps of other Warner classics, the two disc sets will come with new audio commentaries, documentaries, outtakes, alternate footage, photo galleries and most excitingly for many films both the silent versions and the later re-released narrated versions of the film.

Arriving over the course of 2003, look for these Chaplin vintage classics for a suggested retail price of $24.95.
