Paramount puts Serpico back on the force

Long missing from the lineup from Paramount Home Entertainment has been the 1973 cop drama Serpico. That oversight has been remedied, and the DVD will finally arrive later this year.

Before Serpico, the idea of a gritty cop drama was foreign. Based loosely on real events, Serpico followed a New York cop, who comes to the realization with the audience, that honesty is not always a job requirement.

The film will arrive in anamorphic widescreen and with audio in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and mono. Several features will be included starting with an audio commentary with director Sidney Lumet. Also featured: “Serpico: From Real to Reel”, “Inside Serpico” and “Serpico: Favorite Moments” featurettes, a theatrical trailer and a photo gallery.

Coming on December 3rd. The new DVD will be priced at $24.95.
