Solaris comes from Criterion

Before you see the remake, Criterion is determined to let us the the original Solaris with an impressive DVD on the way this winter.

Ground control has been receiving strange transmissions from the three remaining residents of the Solaris space station. When cosmonaut and psychologist Kris Kelvin is sent to investigate, he experiences the strange phenomena that afflict the Solaris crew, sending him on a voyage into the darkest recesses of his own consciousness.

A new anamorphic widescreen print of the film and the original Russian mono soundtracks are accompanied by an array of extras including plus plenty of extras including deleted scenes, portions of a documentary, an audio essay, video interviews with actress Natalya Bondarchuk, cinematographer Vadim Yusov, art director Mikhail Romadin and composer Eduard Artemyev.

A November 12th release date has been set for the disc which will have a typical $39.95 price tag.
