Lions Gate Home Entertainment has acquired the rights to the recent cable hit The Dead Zone and is planning a DVD release of the premiere episode later this year.

Johnny had a nearly perfect life until a near fatal car crash took six years from his life as he suffered through a coma. Now he’s back in a world he doesn’t recognize with new psychic powers. He must learn to deal with not only the shocking reintroduction to the world, but the amazing powers he now controls.

The first episode will be presented in its original fullscreen aspect ratio with audio mixed in Dolby Digital 5.1. The extras include an audio commentary the “Johnny Smith Video Diary” and TV spots.

Coming to DVD on November 5th with a suggested retail price of $24.95, the first episode sales may very well lead to season sets down the road.
