We still love Lucy

With all the hype surrounding each volume of Star Trek, another Desilu production is getting periodical quality releases from Paramount Home Entertainment; namely the show that made television I Love Lucy. To supplement the first season which is trickling out now, Paramount will be releasing I Love Lucy: 50th Anniversary in early October.

The special celebrates the “I Love Lucy” phenomenon — what made the show unique and timeless and as fresh and funny today as when it first premiered on CBS in 1951. Stars share stories about how “I Love Lucy” influenced them and how they feel the show impacted television and their lives. The special also provides an entertaining look at favorite “Lucy” characters and the show’s exeptional guest stars. Special guests include: Antonio Banderas, Cher, Richard Crenna, Andy Garcia, Whoopi Goldberg, Larry King, Jorge Moreno, Leah Remini, Paul Rodriguez, Roseanne, Arturo Sandoval, Lily Tomlin, Dick Van Dyke, Barbara Walters, Henry Winkler and many more.

Presented in fullscreen with Dolby Surround 2.0, the disc will be a little light in the extras department, but any disc with Henry Winkler should be enough for anyone.

The special will hit shelves on October 1st, the same day as the individual disc releases of Season One: Vol. 3 and 4. Retail price on all three releases is $19.99.
