Paramount promises Trading Places

While it may never be recognized by the American Film Institute as great cinema, Trading Places holds a warm place in many of our hearts as one of those films we can sit back and enjoy on a weekend afternoon. Paramount Home Entertainment is readying a new DVD for the film, but about as bare-bones as you can imagine.

Randolph and Mortimer Duke, wall street tycoons, refuse to agree on whether a person is shaped by genetics or environment. So they make a bet; take rich broker Louis Winthorpe III and throw him on the streets to be replaced by homeless man Billy Ray Valentine. The amount of this life altering wager; one dollar. But when Louis and Billy Ray get wind of the plot, the tables get turned once again.

Although Paramount was kind enough to include a widescreen transfer and original Dolby Surround 2.0 track, the disc is otherwise pretty featureless.

Set for a September 24th release date, the film will be available at the DVD Review Store for $16.24.
