Columbia TriStar to release an unwell version of The Road To Wellville

Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment is currently preparing the release of The Road To Wellville, which is scheduled to hit retail stores in September. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Matthew Broderick and Bridget Fonda, “The Road To Wellville” throws you into the unbelievably odd world of health-craze huckster and Corn Flakes inventor John Harvey Kellogg, as played by Anthony Hopkins.

They all populate the more-than-slightly crazy Battle Creek Sanitarium, a combination spa-hospital-and-grand-hotel that is the brainchild of the wacky Kellogg. Into the fray come the sweet-spirited Eleanor, and her devoted husband Will. What they don’t realize is that their efforts to improve their health will become a comedic nightmare of ill-timed sexual temptations, mechanical contraptions that would put Rube Goldberg to shame, and highly questionable dietary “breakthroughs.”

Now for the bad news. Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will be releasing this film in a fullscreen presentation only with a Dolby Surround audio track. While it is most likely an open matte transfer, it would have been nice to at least add a widescreen version to the release.

“The Road To Wellville” will be released on September 10 at a suggested retail price of $24.95. You can now preorder the title at the DVD Review Store for only $16.22.
