On MGM Home Entertainment’s Special Edition of the David Lynch movie “Blue Velvet, ” the studio has hidden some Easter Eggs with cool bonus materials.

From the disc’s Main Menu highlight the “Special Feature” menu entry and then press the “Down” arrow key on your remote control to highlight a picket fence symbol. Press “Enter” and the images that make up the menu will change. Then do the same thing again. This time it will highlight a blue robin. If you press “Enter” now you will get to see an interview snippet on how the robin in Blue Velvet was acquired and executed.

Now, on the Main Menu select “Special Features” and in the adjacent menu, highlight the “Documentary” menu entry. Now press the “Up” arrow key on your remote control to highlight the word “Special” which will give you access to some more interview footage.

Now highlight the “Documentary – the Mysteries of Love” menu entry and in the following menu screen highlight the menu entry called “The Origins.” Now press the “up” arrow key to highlight “Mysteries of Love” which will give you access to some interview footage with Isabella Rosselini in which she talks about the supposed misogyny of the film.

Yet another hidden feature can be found on the DVD, this time in the “Scene Selections” screen. Highlight scene 3, “A Gruesome Discovery” and then press the “Right” arrow key on your remote control. This will highlight an ear, giving you access to interview footage with Kyle MacLachlan on his “chicken walk” scene.
