Who can turn the world on with her smile?

Putting television series on DVD was once reserved for shows with large cult followings, but as the format matures, more classic television is brought to use to archive and cherish. Coming from Twentieth Century Fox, the champion of television DVDs, comes Mary Tyler Moore, the complete first season. The set which was produced in part by Ed Asner himself comes to DVD this September.

The original ensemble cast led by Mary Richards as Mary Tyler Moore is featured on season one and also includes Edward Asner as Lou Grant, Mary’s boss and the producer of the news show; Gavin MacLeod as Murray Slaughter, the quick-witted writer; Ted Knight as Ted Baxter, the dense and self-centered anchorman; Valerie Harper as Mary’s upstairs neighbor and window dresser, Rhoda Morgenstern; and Cloris Leachman as Mary’s high-strung landlady.

The four disc set will carry all twenty-four episodes on three discs and a final disc for features. All episodes will be presented in their original fullscreen with audio available in English, French and Spanish. Audio commentaries will be present on the episodes, Love is All Around, Support Your Local Mother and 1040 or Fight. Disc four contains an hour and a half documentary, She Turned The World On With Her Smile: The Making Of The Mary Tyler Moore Show, a trivia challenge and Emmy Awards clips.

On September 24, 2002, the first season of our favorite girl comes to DVD with a suggested retail price of $49.98.
