Vanguard Cinema to re-release Thesis

Graduate school can be very tough, but it’s even harder when someone is trying to kill you! Vanguard Cinema, in association with Tanelorn Films have announced a re-release of the film Thesis on DVD. This award-winning Spanish thriller was directed by Alejandro Amenabar, who has recently garnered international attention for his hit film “The Others” and the fact that the Tom Cruise vehicle “Vanilla Sky” was a re-make of Amenabar’s “Abre Los Ojos”.

“Thesis” follows Angela (Ana Torrent) a college student who is interested in media violence. When she comes across what is apparently a “snuff” film, her world is turned upside-down. She turns to horror-film fanatic Chema (Fele Martinez) for help. Together, they learn that the tape is just one piece of a mysterious web of incidents, which have occurred at the school, and that handsome classmate Bosco (Eduardo Noriega) may be involved. Soon, Angela fears that her own life may be in danger and she doesn’t know who to trust.

This new version of “Thesis” will include a documentary on the making of the film, the original theatrical trailer, and filmographies for the cast and crew. The transfer will be the same as that which appeared on the original release, which offers the film letterboxed at 1.5:1 (but not enhanced for 16×9 TVs) and a Dolby 2.0 Surround audio track. The DVD will be released on 6/25 with a retail price of $29.95.
