Columbia TriStar release the Stuart Little 2 Sales Package in May

Not making very many friends within the DVD community, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment has begun to announce certain DVD titles for release in the fullscreen format only – such as the anti-war drama “A Midnight Clear” mention below. The next entry in the category is a new Deluxe Edition of Stuart Little..

Join the fun when the Little family adopts an adorably spunky boy named Stuart (voiced by Michael J. Fox), who looks a lot like a mouse. Mr. And Mrs. Little (Hugh Laurie and Geena Davis) fall in love with Stuart right away, but their older son George (Jonathan Lipnicki) isn’t so sure what to make of his new brother, and the family’s white cat, Snowbell (voiced by Nathan Lane), devises a dastardly plan to get Stuart out of the house…permanently. State-of-the-art special effects, laugh-out-loud comedy and rip-roaring hijinks make this the biggest adventure a Little can have.

One could argue that the title “Deluxe Edition” for a fullscreen version of a widescreen movie is outright blasphemous, but Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment nonetheless does just that. The DVD will also contain a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital track

Clearly, this re-release of “Stuart Little” is nothing but a cheap vehicle to drive interest in the upcoming theatrical release of its sequel “Stuart Little 2.” As such the DVD will contain a never-before-seen featurette length – whatever that means – advance peek at the sequel, as well as a new interactive game and a free movie ticket fro “Stuart Little 2.”

In terms of the remaining content of the disc nothing new has been added, so if you own the previous release, don’t even bother with this re-release. Maybe Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment should have more accurately called this release “Stuart Little: The Stuart Little 2 Sales Package”

The DVD will be released on May 21 and carry a suggested retail price of $19.95. You can preorder it now at Shop In Digital at the super-low price of $12.98!
