Shortly after the announcement that the upcoming DVD of the Gulf War film Black Hawk Down would be released as a movie-only disc, Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment has confirmed that a new special edition DVD would be put into production for release later this year. Ridley Scott has gotten involved with the project and is set to record an audio commentary for the disc which will include a wealth of behind-the-scenes material for the film.

No release date has been set for the upcoming disc, nor have all the specifications been nailed down, but lovers of the film should be aware of the special editions arrival to avoid potentially buying the same film twice.
