Columbia TriStar brings you The Villain in May

In May Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment will release the 1979 comedy The Villain, starring Kirk Douglas and a very young Arnold Schwarzenegger, who incidentally has just signed to resume his role of Conan the Cimerrian in “King Conan.”

Directed with giddy abandon by Hal Needham (Smokey and the Bandit, The Cannonball Run), the film is more than a spoof of Westerns – it’s a live-action cartoon inspired by the zany, animated hijinks of the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote. THE VILLAIN is filled with unbelievable stunts and screwball humor that fills the screen with human versions of gags moviegoers may have thought were possible only in cartoons. Douglas plays “Cactus Jack” Slater, the movie’s namesake villain, while Schwarzenegger is a handsome stranger named, naturally, Handsome Stranger.

In what is a very unexpected movie for Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment, the movie will be presented in a fullscreen version only that has been modified from the movie’s original widescreen aspect ratio. The DVD will feature an English language track and a variety of subtitles and will come without notable extras, other than a selection of bonus trailers.

“The villain” will be available on May 21 and carry a suggested retail price of $24.95. Preorder it now at Shop In Digital for only $16.99 and save big!
