Slapshot and its sequel are coming

Many sports movies enlighten us with a spirit of fair play and
sportsmanship. Many sports movies allow us to watch the game as a
metaphor for life. Slapshot does neither of these, but danged if
it isn’t an enjoyable romp. “Slapshot” is coming to DVD in March as is
its new sequel Slapshots 2: Breaking the Ice from Universal
Studios Home Entertainment
.

To build up attendance at their games, the management of a third-rate,
minor league hockey team signs up three odd-looking players whose job it
is to literally attack and demolish opposition–to the delight of the
throng of fans.

Presented in anamorphic widescreen, “Slapshot” contains its
original mono soundtrack. The disc will interestingly contain an
audio commentary with the Hanson brothers.

The new sequel furthers the action of the first in the long awaited
sequel. The new film comes in anamorphic widescreen with audio in
Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1. The disc also comes with
behind-the-scenes footage, interviews with the Hanson
Brothers, a trailer and production info.

On March 26, both titles will be available for $26.98 apiece. A box set
containing both will also be available for $39.95.
