Fans of HBO Home Video’s excellent box sets for their popular television series “The Sopranos” and “Sex in the City” may be interested to know that the network’s former king Larry Sander is coming as well, but not from HBO. Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment puts The Larry Sanders Show: The Complete First Season on DVD this winter.

Gary Shandling is Larry Sanders, the fictional host of a fictional late night talk show with non-fictional guests. Larry’s show seems to run smoothly almost every night, but only through the chaos and neurosis that goes on behind the scenes each and every show. If Johnny Carson was the king of real late night, Larry was the undisputed king of fictional late night.

The new three disc set will contain all twelve episodes of the first season. Each episode will be presented in its original fullscreen aspect ratio with Dolby Stereo 2.0 sound. The set will also include the featurette, “Gary Shandling Talks… ”No Flipping!”.

Coming on February 26th, the set will cost $39.95 and hopefully pave the way for the next five seasons to join it.
