Warner readies the miniseries Roots

The miniseries that changed television is coming to DVD just in time for its twenty-fifth anniversary. Roots is coming in January from Warner Brothers Home Entertainment.

One man’s family. One nation’s legacy. Share in the human triumph of Kuanta Kinte, Fiddler, Kizzy, Chicken George and more in this special 25th-Anniversary DVD Edition of Alex Haley’s best-selling saga as depicted in the 1977 8 part mini-series that impacted the nation like no other telecast.

The eight part series will be coming on three DVDs, all presented in the original fullscreen format. Although the sheer immensity of the film precludes an abundance of features, the disc will contain a running audio commentary with executive producer David L. Wolper, Ed Asner, LeVar Burton, Cicely Tyson, John Amos, Sandy Duncan, Leslie Uggams, Stan Winston and others. The set will also include a Roots Family Tree and weblinks, both available via DVD-ROM, and the documentary Remembering Roots.

“Roots” is coming January 15th, ready to be introduced to a new generation. The three disc set will carry a $59.98 suggested retail price.
