It’s Groundhog Day… again

Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment is revisiting the recursive comedy Groundhog Day next January. The Harold Ramis comedy is getting the special edition treatment on DVD.

Bill Murray plays a weatherman caught in a personal time warp on the worst day of his life. Teamed with a relentlessly cheerful producer and a smart-aleck cameraman, TV weatherman Phil Connors is sent to Pumsutawney, Pennsylvania to cover the annual Groundhog Day festivities. After a surprise blizzard traps him in small-town hell, things get even worse; Phil wakes the next morning to find it’s Groundhog Day all over again. and again. and again.

The new special edition from Columbia carries an anamorphic widescreen transfer of the film with a Dolby Digital 5.1 and a newly added DTS 5.1 soundtrack. The features include an audio commentary from director Harold Ramis, the documentary: The Weight of Time, theatrical trailers and filmographies.

Groundhog Day comes early this year; January 29th to be specific. The film that made Pumsutawney Phil a legend will come to stores for $29.95.
