The comedy Soapdish is on its way

Ten years ago, farce was a very popular form of comedy, and few films that year embraced the absurd as well as the Michael Hoffman satire Soapdish. A decade later, the film is coming to DVD courtesy of Paramount Home Entertainment.

Cathy Moriarty, Elisabeth Shue, Kevin Kline, Robert Downey Jr., Sally Field, and Whoopi Goldberg are all stars of the big screen. But in “Soapdish” they all come together as stars of the small screen – specifically, the bizarre cast and crew of “The Sun Also Sets,” America’s hottest “soap,” where on-screen drama and off-screen craziness combine for outrageous consequences. When Celeste Talbert, the show’s diva comes to odds with the shows producers, the plots and schemes elevate to a level where even the fictional show they produce cannot compete with the behind the scenes action.

Coming with audio in Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Surround and Stereo, “Soapdish will be presented in anamorphic widescreen. The DVD will also contain a brief behind-the-scenes featurette and a theatrical trailer.

Coming in the last weeks of 2001 on December 4th, ”Soapdish” will carry a price of $29.99.
