Robbie the Reindeer in Hooves of Fire is now in stores

Winner of 13 awards, including a British Academy Award for Best Entertainment Program, Robbie the Reindeer in Hooves of Fire is a heartwarming, yet witty, tale of one reindeer’s struggle to make it onto Santa’s sleigh team and his unexpected stumble into true love. It is now available on DVD courtesy of BBC Home Video.

Robbie the Reindeer in Hooves of Fire is created by a team of talented writers including Richard Curtis (Bridget Jones’s Diary, Notting Hill, Four Weddings and Funeral) and Andy Riley and Kevin Cecil. Directed by Aardman alumnus Richard Goleszowski, a host of well-known actors and pop stars have also contributed to this extraordinarily creative film. Ardal O’Hanlon is the voice of Robbie. The voices of Jane Horrocks and Rhys Ifans are also featured. Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits composed the film’s music.

Attracting nearly 8 million viewers the first time it was aired in the UK, Robbie the Reindeer in Hooves of Fire features stunning 3D-model animation created by the BBC’s Animation Unit in association with the UK charity, Comic Relief – a charity committed to the end of poverty and social injustice. 100% of BBC Worldwide’s net profits from Robbie the Reindeer will be donated to Comic Relief.

The Robbie the Reindeer DVD will be available at retail for $14.98, including a director’s commentary, full- and widescreen options, a behind-the-scenes featurette, animated storyboard segment, and cast and character bios.
