Just the facts, Dragnet comes to DVD

The story you’re about to hear is true. Music Video Entertainment has obtained the rights to the classic 1952-1959 police drama Dragnet. The first DVD of the series will be available this fall.

“This is the city: Los Angeles, California. I work here. I’m a cop.” This is how LA Sgt. Joe Friday methodically introduced himself. Together with his partners, Joe fought crime in 1950’s California in perhaps the first realistic police television program. Although not nearly as racy as cop shows to follow including LAPD Blue and Law and Order, “Dragnet” was the show that first tackled the police life and led the way for all the shows to come.

Unfortunately, “just the facts” doesn’t provide much information yet for this release. Presented in its original fullscreen presentation, it is unknown which or how many episodes will be included on the upcoming DVD, nor is it known if future DVDs are planned to follow. No special features have been made known.

What is known is that “Dragnet” will be in stores on November 6th with a suggested retail price of $19.95.
