Bubble Boy bounces his way to DVD in January

Buena Vista Home Entertainment has just unveiled the details and features of the upcoming release of the film Bubble Boy which spawned its own set of controversies when it ran in theaters earlier this year.

Jake Gyllenhaal stars as Jimmy Livingston, a young man born without immunities and raised in a manufactured world provided by his well-intentioned but misguided mother. He is happy enough and has all the same experiences as other boys and girls growing up—except he lives in a bubble. When Jimmy realizes he is in love, with Chloe, the girl next door, he has no choice but to build a mobile “bubble suit” and set off across the country to Niagara Falls to stop her wedding—which is only days away – in time to confess his love to her. Along the way, he crosses paths with freaks, bikers, rockstars, and a cult racing against the clock t and his parents, who are determined to bring Jimmy back to the safety of his “bubble room.”

The DVD will feature an anamorphic widescreen presentation of the movie in its original 2.35:1 aspect ratio, complete with a 5.1 channel Dolby Digital audio track and French and Spanish subtitles. The DVD will also contain Production Featurettes and an Audio Commentary featuring director Blair Hayes.

“Bubble Boy” will be in stores on January 22 at a suggested retail price of $29.99.
