A new cache of titles from Warner Home Video

Warner Brothers Home Video has announced the upcoming release of four diverse titles coming later this winter. The romantic comedy Summer Catch, the comedic western American Outlaws, the mystical The Mists of Avalon and the indie thriller 4 Dogs Playing Poker are all due on disc this holiday season.

Summer heats up when a blue-collar kid with major league aspirations falls in love with a wealthy debutante during a Cape Cod vacation in “Summer Catch”. Cape Cod is the place to be for the hottest college ball players around the country to gather. Ryan, the first local boy in years to earn a slot in the team finally got his shot, but the temptations off-field are getting in the way of his commitment to the game.

Presented in anamorphic widescreen, “Summer Catch” will contain a Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack and a full length audio commentary featuring Jessica Biel, director Mike Tollin and writer John Gatins. The disc will also contain cast and director filmographies and a theatrical trailer.

The legend of Jesse James gets a fresh spin in this “American Outlaws” featuring Colin Farrel, Scott Caan and Ali Larter. When the citizens of a Midwest town learn that a corrupt railroad baron has captured the deeds to their homesteads, a group of young ranchers join forces to take back what is rightfully theirs and ultimately become the object of the biggest manhunt in the history of the Old West. As their fame grows, so does the legend of their leader, the young outlaw Jesse James.

A new anamorphice widescreen transfer graces the new DVD, as do three audio tracks in Dolby Digital 5.1, DTS 5.1 and Dolby Pro Logic 2.0. The fairly feature laden disc includes four featurettes: The Making of American Outlaws, Creating the Old West, How to Be an Outlaw and Costuming the Cowboys. Other bonuses on the disc include deleted scenes, storyboards, a publicity gallery, production stills theatrical trailers, TV spots, filmogtaphies and a feature-length audio commentary by director Les Mayfield, editor Michael Tronick and co-writer John Rogers. DVD-ROM content includes a screenplay viewer with storyboards and the original theatrical website.

The TNT miniseries based on the bestseller by Marion Zimmer Bradley, “The Mists of Avalon tells the story of the women behind King Arthur; including his mother, Igraine; his half-sister, Morgaine; his aunt Viviane, the Lady of the Lake; and his wife, Guinevere.

Coming to DVD in Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and an anamorphic widescreen presentation, ”The Mists of Avalon“ DVD will carry additional scenes, a gallery of photos, storyboards and costume/production designs, a Camelot family tree and cast and crew filmographies.

A film festival favorite, ”4 Dogs Playing Poker“ is a captivating story of four friends who, after participating in a heist gone awry, are forced to devise a desperate payback plan by taking out one million dollar life insurance policies and drawing cards to see who lives … and who dies.

The coming DVD will be available in Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and 16×9 widescreen video and includes the original theatrical trailer and cast and director film highlights.

December 4th will see the release of ”Summer Catch“ and ”American Outlaws“. ”The Mists of Avalon“ and ”4 Dogs Playing Poker“ will be available one week later on December 11th. All discs will be priced at $19.98 with the exception of ”American Outlaws” which will be $24.98.
