Panasonic unveils new desktop LCD TV/DVD combo

Panasonic has announced a unique new addition to their electronics lineup. The TC-11LV1 is a full-featured, super bright, 16:9 widescreen LCD television with a built-in DVD player.

The new desktop digital television has an 11-inch high contrast 854×480 pixel screen with a 450 cd/m2 brightness level, and a contrast ratio of 500:1. The unit houses a progressive scan DVD player and two built-in speakers. For additional audio, the TC-11LV1 also contains a DTS out, and a built in Dolby Digital decoder.

The TC-11LV1 also features a 181-channel tuner. A built-in progressive scan converter enhances NTSC signals by progressively scanning the television picture. The 480p picture is enhanced by Active Light Circuitry which automatically detects the brightness levels of the input signal and adjusts the backlight accordingly, providing an expanded dynamic range from black to white peak.

The unique new combo unit should be available in November and will tentatively carry a retail price of $1,599.95.
