Music Video Distributors brings hip-hop to the format

Two new hip-hop documentaries are on the way from Music Video Distributors. Giving a glimpse into the most opulent end of the business where the music is created and the club scene where the music is ultimately enjoyed comes 24 Hours with Russell Simmons and Freaknik in November.

“24 Hours with Russell Summons” features a day in the life Russell Simmons, Hip-Hop Entrepreneur. Russell is best known for his highly successful HBO cable show “Def Comedy Jam”, and his many multi-platinum Rap and R&B artists such as Jay Z, EPMD, Slick Rick, Redman & Method Man, Sisqo, DMX and Montel Jordan. From “Def Jam” to “Phat Farm” to “360 Hip-Hop”, this documentary follows Russell Simmons as he demonstrates what it takes to make in and out of music industry. This DVD gives an inside look into the life of the Founding Father of Hip-Hop and catches Russell lounging around the house with his supermodel wife, Kimora Lee Simmons, and also pops in on Montell Jordan’s album release party.
Explore the extravaganza known as “Freaknik”: the absolute largest college party in the world. Get a first-hand look at the nation’s largest and most exciting single event for the African-American College student. Travel through the sultry streets of Atlanta, Georgia and witness insane parties, clubs and performances. College co-eds party hard and take you to wild celebrations so that you will “get yo’ freak on.” This is one spring break you won’t want to miss.

No technical specifications are available for either disc, but as an added bonus, “24 Hours” will contain extra footage of P-Diddy’s thirtieth birthday party, featuring Jennifer Lopez singing Happy Birthday dressed as Marilyn Monroe.

Set to be released in November, no specific street date has been announced yet. Both DVDs will be available for $19.99.
